What a freaking awesome documentary!! You could really see the passion that each artist put into their work. About 10 to 15 minutes into the documentary, there was one thing that popped into my mind, freedom. I was born in Vietnam and didn't come to the United States until 1997 and it has always amazed me how much freedom and how much you can get away within this country. It ties back to the Pussy Riot and how they were exercising their freedom of speech but were taken to prison for 2 years. I remember growing up in Vietnam seeing the red flag with yellow stars but when I came to America I would see a yellow flag with 3 red stripes. I never knew why the Vietnamese people used 2 different flags until my parents told me that a big majority of the Vietnamese population in America was against the Communist party and that America was their escape. In Vietnam, people do not have the freedom of speech, protest, and freedom to express themselves. This Documentary really shows how an artist...
At the beginning of the graduate program, I was working on a series with Pati about people that work with their hands. I was watching a video of one of the photographers I saw on Youtube and he happened to be interviewing Agenda Brown. I did a little more digging into his 'Hand' project and was instantly hooked! I have already made an appointment with a local gardener in town and will be meeting with her on Thursday to do a shoot!!! I have a vision of how I will be photographing so lets make it happen!! UPDATE: I added Agenda Brown on IG and reached out to him. Super friendly guy. We chatted about what hands mean to us as an artist. We had made plans to keep in contact to talk about work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Fuv0RdoB7M https://www.instagram.com/theagendabrown/
