Art of Protest

What a freaking awesome documentary!! You could really see the passion that each artist put into their work. About 10 to 15 minutes into the documentary, there was one thing that popped into my mind, freedom. I was born in Vietnam and didn't come to the United States until 1997 and it has always amazed me how much freedom and how much you can get away within this country. It ties back to the Pussy Riot and how they were exercising their freedom of speech but were taken to prison for 2 years. I remember growing up in Vietnam seeing the red flag with yellow stars but when I came to America I would see a yellow flag with 3 red stripes. I never knew why the Vietnamese people used 2 different flags until my parents told me that a big majority of the Vietnamese population in America was against the Communist party and that America was their escape. In Vietnam, people do not have the freedom of speech, protest, and freedom to express themselves. This Documentary really shows how an artist could use their talent and platform to express how they feel about an issue and that we should not be afraid to speak up to society.
