Faculty Meeting with Chad Smith

Trip showing the final images in either a diptych or a grid? Could be interesting Study sculptures and how masters like Michelangelo sculpted hands Georgia O'keeffe Alfred Stieglitz Don't be in such a rush to edit your photos right away. Give it some time to disconnect from the shoot emotionally Try not to think too much like a commercial photographer (seeing the final images before the actually shoot. We talked about how hard it is to do because of our background). Just let your creativity go at the moment Look into www.atpi.org Mark Murray Graduate school is a time to educate yourself with what you don't know. It is natural to get lost and not know where where to go next Try images in color. After a couple of shoots, print in color and B&W to compare

Working Hands: Bartender Part 1

Image
We had to end the shoot about halfway through because the bartender had an emergency and had to leave ASAP. I will be rescheduling with him for another day. I also have a gardener, chef, knitter, and tailor lined up for the upcoming weeks.  I'm not sure why but the images got uploaded backward.

Isabel Zeng

Ran across Isabel Zeng while in the rabbit hole and found this series extremely cool. The mask reminds me of something that Vaughn posted in one of our classes this semester. Enjoy!  http://www.isabelzeng.com/performance/whats-left-of-us/

McDonald's Prankster

What Jevh and Christian did was ballsy and amazing. It reminds me of what Vaughn always tells us, "just fucking do it", and they literally did. Adding a creative way to get recognized and for McDonald's to notice what their campaign had been missing the whole time, diversity. I will say using the McDonald's logo could have gotten them in trouble. I love the commitment and the mindset of just putting your artwork out there.

Art of Protest

What a freaking awesome documentary!! You could really see the passion that each artist put into their work. About 10 to 15 minutes into the documentary, there was one thing that popped into my mind, freedom. I was born in Vietnam and didn't come to the United States until 1997 and it has always amazed me how much freedom and how much you can get away within this country. It ties back to the Pussy Riot and how they were exercising their freedom of speech but were taken to prison for 2 years. I remember growing up in Vietnam seeing the red flag with yellow stars but when I came to America I would see a yellow flag with 3 red stripes. I never knew why the Vietnamese people used 2 different flags until my parents told me that a big majority of the Vietnamese population in America was against the Communist party and that America was their escape. In Vietnam, people do not have the freedom of speech, protest, and freedom to express themselves. This Documentary really shows how an artist
